101 Things to do in Kinsale Launched

The business people of Kinsale descended on Dublin for a night, as Kinsale Chamber of Tourism launched 2007 in style with their new guide ‘’101 Things to do in Kinsale’’.
The many guests were greeted by the actors from the Kinsale Ghost Tour who entertained the many passers by in the IFSC as they gave Dublin a taste of Kinsale for an afternoon.
Minister for Art, Sport and Tourism, Mr John O’ Donoghue spoke at length about Kinsale but firstly paid tribute to the crew of the Kinsale trawler ‘’Honey Dew II’’ and the missing crew members and how important the Kinsale fisherman are to the town and its history.
Minister O Donoghue went on to compliment Kinsale on its achievements in tourism to date and commented on its ‘’remarkable programme of events’’ as well as the people behind these events that have made Kinsale what it is and secure Kinsales future as a leading tourist destination. Furthermore, Mr O Donoghue commented ‘’its not surprising to me that the Kinsale Chamber of Tourism has been able to assemble a list of more than 100 activities that visitors can pursue during a visit to Kinsale’’
Kinsale’s adopted son Mr Derek Davis, went on to talk about the magnet that is Kinsale and how by working together as a community, like no other town, Kinsale has excelled down through the years and continues to do so with renewed energy, pin pointing the new businesses in Kinsale and those who have invested significantly in their product over the last few year. Derek Davis also paid tribute to the great Peter Barry who’s foresight made Kinsale what it is today.
Chairman of Kinsale Chamber of Tourism thanked the Minister for attending and that it is a great honour for Kinsale to have the Minister for Tourism officially launch our new brochure. Mr Walsh also thanked the various people who have made the event happen and the voluntary tireless work in promoting Kinsale.
Chairman of Kinsale Harbour Board, Mr Charles Henderson complimented the Chamber on another successful initiative and thanked all for attending.
The event was attended by various dignitaries, celebrities, tourism and media personnel, and Kinsale business people, including celebrity model, Amanda Brunker, singer Cathy Nugent, Cllr Alan Coleman, Denis O Donovan TD, Paul O Grady, Guinness Store House, Hal McElroy and David Good, The Trident Hotel, Jerry Healy from the Cartlon Hotel, Mareta Doyle from Kinsale Arts Week, Mary Coughlan from Kinsale Vintners, Carole Norman from Kinsale Good Food Circle, Ciaran Fitzgerald from the Blue Haven Collection, Tom Brennan from Castlepark Marina, Olivia Frawley from the White House, Barry Kiely from Kinsale Brewery, Karl O Flanagan and Nigel O Mahony from OMF Publicity, Derek Davis, Michael Barry from Barry Fitzwilliam, to name but a few.
Another very successful evening for Kinsale and an event which has highlighted the many attractions that Kinsale has to offer in one concise guide.
