Statue of Peter Barry Unveiled

Local legend and hero Peter Barry was paid the ultimate tribute by the people of Kinsale this afternoon with the unveiling of a statue in his honour .
In the 70’s Peter almost single-handedly brought Kinsale to the forefront of Ireland’s tourist industry with innovative ideas such as the Good Food Circle. He was also instrumental in the beginnings of local restaurant and pub culture transforming Kinsale from a sleepy fishing village into the cosmopolitan town we know today.
The statue is the work of local artist and silversmith Pat Dolan and takes pride of place in Kinsale’s ancient Market place.
