Local butcher and Kinsale institution John Coholan has retired after 39 years of serving the finest quality meats.
John Coholan was a traditional family butcher / victualler located in the center of Kinsale providing an excellent range of fresh meats and poultry. He also catered to the hotel and catering industry in the Kinsale area.
Popular with the locals, John Coholan would always have a story and a laugh for all who stopped by in Market Street. He will be missed in his well deserved retirement.
The shop opened St. Patrick’s Day 1969.

Kinsale Rugby Club Make History
March 27, 2008 by editor · Leave a Comment
A remarkable 10 out of 10 was the result on Kinsale Rugby‘s score card after a very tough league campaign.
The first team were delighted to be promoted but to do it unbeaten added an extra dimension to their delight.
Charleville provided the opposition on the day. They were in no. 2 position to Kinsale before this encounter which took place
at Snug more. Both teams are now heading to division 2 next season.
The ladies of Kinsale were busy on the day preparing a lunch for the President and Committee members, Trustees, Sponsors, and Charleville all enjoyed the hospitality.
The main event was a nail biting encounter with Charleville refusing to lie down. However Kinsale did the business on the day and are still battling hard to add more silverware before the season ends.
