Bring objects to life on screen by moving them tiny amounts and taking a picture each time. In these workshops you will create and animate your own plasticene creations. Films will be shown to the public on Family Day.

Make and use your own full-head mask from papier-mache and recycled materials with sculptor Tom Campbell in one day, and then on the second day, learn the classic theatrical performance tradition of Commedia Dell’ Arte with Marcus Bale. This will lead to a short performance in the Festival Street Day.

With the help of experts from BelleEtik, choose from halter neck, off the shoulder or cami style. Decorate with ruffles, appliqué or buttons and beading – you decide.

Make mini-skirts from old pieces of fabric. Add in ruffles or asymmetrical hems to make them stand out and get a demonstration on how to convert your old jeans into a skirt or mini dress.

Discover a language within a language. Enjoy and savour a wealth of contemporary poems by a wide-selection of leading poets across the globe. The sessions will entail reading several poems in a group and garnering an in-depth understanding of the poem and poet through discussion. PAINTING IN THE STYLE OF KLIMT | KINSALE POTTERY & ARTS CENTRE

In this one-day workshop students will study the work of Gustave Klimt. Each participant will develop a painting in this style, learning about how to treat colours and patterns in acrylics. Facilitated by Julia Pallone.

PAINTS, COLOURS & BRUSHES – WATERCOLOURS WITH SUE JACOB | KINSALE POTTERY & ARTS CENTRE

This is a fascinating in-depth look at a large palette of colours highlighting their individual qualities, uses, and mixing suggestions. For brushes we look at the different qualities on the market and also a variety of brushes that have been developed for specific uses and that give some very interesting special effects. The paints and brushes used to demonstrate are primarily for watercolours, but this course could be of interest to other media users, and even those who have not yet started to paint.
