Our Friend Colm
December 24, 2007 by editor
Our dear friend Colm Butterly passed away last Sunday. He was a mentor, friend and silent partner in the Kinsale Times as well as Rottenmedia. He loved this town and helped without anyone knowing. That was the the way he was…
He was the very first person I met in Kinsale, and like a long lost brother. Here is his story from his own mouth…
“My name is Colm Butterly and I have been working with computers since before they came with monitors attached and long before built-in hard drives! As a computer engineer, I have many years of experience working on high end computer hardware, storage, and network and Internet infrastructures.
I now work full-time from my home office running my business & reseller hosting business and other online enterprises. This arrangement allows me to share the joys and responsibilities of raising our son, Anthony (5), with my beautiful wife, Sian.
For the last 5 years I have been working as a director of 3 different companies with responsibility for Operations and Technical Project Management in each of them. Included in my portfolio was the internet presence of these companies and search engine organisation (SEO).”
Colm has left us struggling to cope. We will try to keep his business running and do all the things he wanted.
Thanks to all who have helped Sian and Anthony, with very special regards to Mick Heffernan, Kinsale Gardai, who beyond the call of duty helped in Colm’s last moments…
